Today ended up being a very busy day - we visited 3 different places today:
1. The Porsche Museum
We took the train out to the museum and luckily this time (unlike the pig museum) it was pretty obvious where it was - right next to the station! We had audioguides to tell us all about the different cars that were in the museum.
They also had special kids activities in the workshop room - making cookies shaped like the porsche and decorating their own wooden cut out porsche. Santa was also there handing out Kinder surprises - with, you guessed it, the toy inside was a very small little porsche car!
2. The State Museum, located in the 'old castle'
We braved the Christmas market area again to go to the State Museum - no photography was supposed to be taken (you needed some permit) but I did manage to take a few when the beady eyed room attendants weren't looking!
The place was interesting - giving a complete history of the state of Baden-Wurtemmberg from the stone age through to about WWI. There were electronic interactives, the displays with drawers underneath that you could open to see other items/information and kid displays where they could touch/move/wear things.
Once again we made a foray into the market - to find Ethan a belt - Jacob and I found a few little Christmas ornaments while we were waiting.
3. TV Tower
Our last stop for the day was at the top of the TV tower located on one of the hills that surround Stuttgart town. We walked in the dark (it was about 5pm) through a little forest glen area from the train station to the tower on a dirt track that was rather muddy in some places.
We went up the tower to find that 150m up in the air it was blowing a gale! Barry had to keep hold of Jacob who couldn't hold his own in the wind and Ethan needed a little hand to keep moving when trying to move into the wind. We had coffee/tea/hot chocolate in the cafe at the top and them returned to the hotel by train, via the road this time as Jacob refused to walk back into the dark forest glen!
